Fantastic for my Malamute

I had previously bought an extra large sized crate (different brand) for my Alaskan Malamute puppy (which was supposed to be big enough for him full grown), but at around 8 months he was looking decidedly squished in that crate. I decided to buy him a giant sized crate. The Ellie-Bo 48" Deluxe 2 crate has been a really good purchase.

It is a nice balance between something affordable and something sturdy enough to contain such a large dog. I cannot imagine thinner wire would work for such a large crate. The 4mm wire works really well. The spacing is 3.5cm by 15.5cm, which is quite good for the price range. The metal plate is thick and doesn't bend out of shape. It is however very heavy. I needed my husband's help to set it up (not because it is hard, but the sheer size makes it a bit unwieldy).

My one complaint with this crate is the latches. It would not be at all suitable for a dog that makes even the slightest attempt to escape. The latches simply slide into place. There is nothing that would keep a dog from using his/her tongue to slide them back open. It isn't a problem for me as my dog makes no attempt to get out of his crate, but it could be an issue for some people.

Over all, it is an excellent giant crate for a reasonable price.
